En nu..het Party Report by Arfman !

Woohoo ! DRoME day !

Half-Life, Half-Life Team Fortress Classic, Delta Force, stuk voor stuk gigantisch gave spellen. Plz ?

Enige minpuntje.

Nog 1 opmerking: deze DRoME was GOED MAN !!!!! (TM Arfman & Ikki)

CU @ DRoME 8 !
Arfman out...

Partyreport MASiR

Party-report DRoME 7 - "No ESCape!"
18/6, 19/6 & 20/6 1999, Expo(center Hengelo (ov) by MASiR..

After a whole week of building up in our new partyplaza, we opened the event on Friday..
To keep the tradition up, we didnt open on time at 1800 Hrz, but about 1845..
There they were.. Many many many, even more freaks waiting to come in.. We did a nice little thingy with the entrance.
Everyone who stepped into the building, couldnt see the size of the place until they completely checked in and went pass the entrance-check.. Then it hit em.. BOOM.. The biggest DRoME theyve even seen.. Not L (large), but more like XL..

After taking a short peek they could go for their PCs and bring their stuff in through an other entrance door..
I heard people say things like.. "I wish I brought my bike" or "I would have reserved a sopt in the back instead of in the front. Now I have to walk miles up and down for my PC." :)

Okay, everyone came in.. I made a webcam shot every 10 seconds.. I will convert these shots into an .AVI file, so itll turn out to be a rapid filling up of the party-toko.. Unitech placed three more cams which showed the whole LAN on the internet for the people who coulnd get a ticket anymore.. There was a keyboard player which provided us with cool spacy, ambiance tunes while setting up everyones computer.. Then, about 2100, we officially opened the event with my demo, which I made in the single week before DRoME 7.. Yep, started too late with it again..

Then some people started to ask questions about the network.. We had some problems due to the quality of the cable which we were provided with.. This resulted in having to turn around our plan of LAN infrastructure.. We were kinda pissed that the cables kinda bugged the LAN.. For the switches and backbone provided by 3Com were nothing but heavy, kick-ass, making-you-drool, eye-popping, megasuperduper technology thingys, which we couldnt use for the full capacity.. :(
So we decided to downgrade them a bit, making sure everyone had a good connection.. Strange thing was that some parts of the LAN were going with the speed of light, while another would have packetloss.. But hey.. we got the stuff to work properly..
Some people went home.. Hehe.. too soon.. Pity guys.. You missed all the good stuff..

The FTP server, a dual P2-400/256MB/3x3Com 100Mbit network adapters and about .. euh many Gigs of diskspace, sponsored by Eurocomp.. was heavily used.. Next time, we need even more diskspace, for the server filled up quite quickly.. IRC on the LAN was heavily used.. The Q2 server, also sponsored by Eurocomp, did well.. The Half-Life servers needed some re-configuration.. KR.Fluffy helped me out.. Thanx dude..

There was some guy who thought a sandwich from his own sandwich-maker would be nice.. POOF.. We warned for these things before the LAN started, but some people just wont listen.. So we replaced the security plug with a heavier one.. No further things happened with the electricity..

Instead he could have used the well done catering by Expo(center.. They provided everyone with a lotta stuff to eat and drink.. The catering was situated in the same building, but a few metres so they wouldnt have too much noise coming from the party-segment of the building.. With some nice tables and chairs everyone could sit down and eat his meal.. Or take it to their PCs.. And once again, this was one good weekend for the Pizza and Shoarma businesses around Hengelo.. Tons of food was delivered at the party entrance.. "Bing, boing.. Food message.. There are three Shoarmas and five Pizzas delivered at the party-entrance.." .. And every time someone in the toko was happy to finally receive his ordered food from the toko he found on the Internet.. :) The Internet connection consisted of 2 ISDN lines, for the sponsor, Castel, couldnt get ISDN30 at the toko in time.. Next DRoME we will have cable Internet or 2 Mbit..

Due to the LAN difficulties, the Quake2 competition was held somewhat later at Saturday.. But that woulnt spoil the fun, thrills and nice bigscreen Quake2 action.. The first round was played in 6 poules. After that, each poule delivered 3 fraggers for the three semi-final rounds.. The semi finals provided 2 players from each game.. Thes semi finals contained some games which could be the final, so the final game would definately kick-ass.. This final was observed by many, many people.. Whether it was in game, or on the bigscreen.. And the compo winner really was a winner.. No remorse.. He really showed he was destined to be the DRoME7 Quake2 FFA compo winner.. The way he showed his skills in every round.. Pfew.. makes me scared man.. He was gooood.. The mans name was (oL)Iceball.. With his railgun he earned a Diamond Viper v770 Ultra TNT2 video card, sponsored by Hastec, with a Logitech gamemouse.. Second price went to his teammate (oL)Rufus, who said hed be grungy all of the next week for not winning the compo.. He received a Logitech Gaming mouse sponsored by.. Duuh Logitech.. :) Third price went to (PK)Intruder.. He finally could replace his old mouse with the Logitech MouseMan wheel plus he won in the competition..
This was some hell of a competition.. And also it was kewl to meet all the Quake 2 players in real life.. Contact between clan DRoME and clan Rampage Warriors became more relaxt.. There were about six members of RW there.. This is a kewl clan.. Also, our guru (100%)Blyker came.. Great to see you again mate! Further we met my big brother Rufus ;), Intruder and MacaW.. Meeting Q2ers in real life simply rules! Me made some pics with all Q2ers..

During the event once again some movies were showed on the bigscreen, which was sponsored by EP: Eppink Tubbergen.. I cant recall everything about the movies, since I slept in the weekend, too .. (really? .. yeah..) I remember we played the latest Star Trek, I still know what you did.etc.. and The Wishmaster.. Every time the crowd loves to see movies on the DRoME bigscreen.. This we will continue to do next events..

On sunday we started the Need for Speed 3 competition.. There was one single round before the final game, due to the limited time we had left.. The final game was played in time-attack.. Each player could play the map on his own PC alone, so no one could have any network LAG or whatsoever.. There once again was a winner who really showed he was the top driver of the competition at that time.. The name was Helien.. He speeded his way to a Logitech Wingman Formula 1 force feedback steering wheel, sponsored by Logitech.. Second price went to Thaz(?).. he won a labtec PC speaker system, sponsored by Hastec.. Third prize went to Half-Life guru KR.Fluffy.. He got a Logitech Wingman extreme joystick..

Pretty quickly after that, the time was up.. It was Sunday 20/6/1999 1800 Hrz, which meant DRoME 7 had come to an end.. Once again, way too soon.. The location was simply perfect.. In the future we will probably organise DRoME again in the same building, for it gives us enough room to expand.. By the time we fill up the whole toko, there will be about 5000 visitors in there.. Just to give you a hunch on the size of this building..

Damn I regret that DRoME 7 is over.. SNiF ..
On to the next.. Maybe there will be one or to DRoME LiTES in between DRoME 7 and DRoME 8.. Who knows.. well see..
